Terms of use

Last updated Oct 11, 2026 · version 0.6

Draft under legal review. The final text will be published after a lawyer has reviewed it.

In short: BesBes is where people meet. We don't sell or buy animals; any deal is between you and the other person. You must be 18 or older to have an account. Post the truth with real photos, and follow Egypt's dog law (Law 29 of 2023): no banned breeds, a licence for conditional breeds, no sales under 8 weeks, and no "renting" animals, ever. Never pay a deposit before you see the animal. If you break the rules, we take your listing down and may close your account.

The agreement and who we are

These terms are an agreement between you and the people who run BesBes: [👤 founders' legal names], [👤 address], Arab Republic of Egypt ("BesBes" or "we"). They cover the BesBes app for Android and iPhone and the website besbes.app. By using BesBes or creating an account, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

Who can use BesBes

  • You must be 18 or older to create an account, and everyone confirms this when they sign in. Anyone can browse listings and guides without an account.
  • One account per person, with true details. You may not open a new account after yours was suspended.
  • If you use BesBes for a business (a shop, clinic, breeder or shelter), you confirm you're allowed to act for it.

What BesBes does

  • BesBes is a platform that shows listings posted by users and helps them get in touch. We don't own, sell, buy, transport or inspect the animals listed, and we are not a party to any agreement between users.
  • Buyers and sellers agree and pay each other directly, outside BesBes. The seller is responsible for the listing, the animal and their legal duties, including a supplier's duties under Consumer Protection Law No. 181 of 2018 where it applies.
  • A «موثّق» (verified) badge on an account means we checked the phone number with a WhatsApp code; on a business, it means we spoke to them by phone. Badges don't guarantee an animal's health, its papers or the owner's conduct.
  • Some content is a sponsored ad, always labelled «Sponsored» with the advertiser's name. Ads promote products, services and adoption only, never the sale of animals, restricted breeds or prescription medicines. The advertiser is responsible for its ad and its offer, including under Consumer Protection Law No. 181 of 2018; you can report an ad from its "Why am I seeing this ad?" sheet.
  • Where no sponsored ad was sold, the same space may show an ad from Google (AdMob in the app, AdSense on guide pages), labelled «Ad · by Google». Google and its advertisers are responsible for those ads and their offers; report one with Google's AdChoices icon on the ad, or write to ads@besbes.app and we'll block it.

Your account

  • You sign in with Google, Apple or a link sent to your e-mail. Keep those accounts secure; you're responsible for what happens through your account.
  • We may ask you to verify your phone number with a WhatsApp code; it is required to sell dogs and to claim a business.
  • Your display name appears on your listings and reviews; choose a decent name that doesn't impersonate anyone.

Posting rules

  • Post true, complete information about the animal, with real photos you took of that animal, not pictures from the internet.
  • One listing per animal, in the right section: sale, adoption, stud or wanted.
  • Give a real price in Egyptian pounds. Don't put phone numbers or links in the text or on photos; the contact number has its own field.
  • The contact number on a listing must be yours, or one you're allowed to use.
  • Sale listings are checked before they go live: automatically (the text, photos, price and the seller's record), and by our team when the checks find something (usually within a few hours during working hours). Adoption, stud and wanted listings and lost and found alerts go live at once and are reviewed afterwards.
  • Individuals can post 3 sale listings free every 30 days; a listing stays live for 30 days and can be renewed.
  • We may move a listing to the right section, ask for changes, or reject a listing that breaks these terms.

Animals and Egyptian law

When you post and when you deal with others, you must follow Law No. 29 of 2023 on keeping dangerous animals and dogs, its Executive Regulations, Agriculture Minister's Decree No. 218 of 2025 and any other law that applies:

  • Banned breeds, which can't be listed: Fila Brasileiro, Boerboel and Presa Canario.
  • Breeds allowed with conditions: Pit Bull, Rottweiler, German Shepherd, Boxer, Husky, Caucasian Shepherd, Bullmastiff, Doberman, Alaskan Malamute, Great Dane, Akita, American Bully, Alabai, Cane Corso, Dogo Argentino and Tosa. They need a valid licence number, the person posting must be 18 or older, and the Decree's conditions apply (muzzle and leash outside the home, vaccination under a vet's supervision).
  • Dog licence: every dog aged 3 months or more needs a licence from the governorate's Veterinary Directorate, and its number must be on the listing. Transferring a dog to a new owner is done by application at the Directorate, and is the seller's and the buyer's responsibility.
  • Minimum age: cats and dogs younger than 8 weeks may not be sold or offered for adoption.
  • Vaccination: state the vaccination status truthfully; rabies vaccination is required for dogs from 3 months.
  • Commercial sellers: dog shops, breeders and traders must register with the Veterinary Directorate, and we may ask for proof.
  • Never allowed: wild, exotic or endangered animals, primates, big cats, reptiles (except turtles), birds of prey and livestock; animals kept for fighting; renting or lending animals in any form; stolen animals; selling medicines or vaccines; and shock collars.

Prohibited content and conduct

BesBes has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. You may not:

  • scam or defraud anyone, including asking for a deposit before the animal is seen without meaning to deliver, or listing an animal that doesn't exist;
  • post animal cruelty, violence, hate, harassment or sexual content, or anything against the law or public morals;
  • post other people's personal data without their permission, or impersonate a person or organisation;
  • spam people, or use contact numbers for marketing;
  • collect data from BesBes automatically, get around limits, blocks or suspensions, or open several accounts to do so;
  • try to break into or disrupt the service, or upload malware.

Lost and found alerts

  • Post an alert only for a pet that is really lost or found, with true details. The public sees an approximate location (about 300 m); only you see the exact spot.
  • A "BesBes call" reaches nearby users (about 5 km) who turned the alerts on, within daily limits.
  • Any reward you offer is a deal between you and whoever finds the pet; BesBes is not part of it.
  • If you find a pet, try to return it to its family. The law requires a dog's owner to tell the Veterinary Directorate when the dog escapes.

Reels

  • Reels are short videos of your pets, up to 30 seconds. Post only videos you filmed or have the right to share, and show people only if they agreed to it.
  • Reels are public: anyone can watch, like, comment on and share them, including through a share link that opens on our website, and they appear on your public profile with your display name. Comments are public too.
  • When a reel is shared or saved as a video (for example to TikTok, Instagram, Facebook or WhatsApp Status), the video carries the BesBes mark, your display name and a short BesBes ending. You can stop other people saving and sharing your videos for one reel when you post it, or for all your reels in Me → Privacy; your reels can still be shared as a link.
  • No selling in reels. No prices, phone numbers, links or contact details in a video, caption or comment. To sell a pet or find it a home, post a listing; you can link it to your reel.
  • No cruelty. Never film or post an animal being hurt, frightened, provoked or kept in bad conditions, or animals made to fight. No violence, sexual content, hate, harassment or spam either.
  • Every reel is checked automatically before it goes live, and our team reviews reports within 24 hours. A reel reported by 3 different people is hidden until it's reviewed. We remove reels and comments that break these terms and tell the owner why; cruelty to animals and repeated breaches close the account.
  • You can delete your reels and comments at any time, block people, and report a reel or a comment in the app.

Reviews and the services directory

  • Write an honest review of your own experience, one per place. Paid or rewarded reviews, and reviews of your own business or your competitors, are not allowed.
  • Business owners may reply to reviews, and we may remove reviews that break these terms.
  • Directory details come from business owners and open sources such as OpenStreetMap. The "Verified by BesBes" badge means we reached the place by phone; it doesn't guarantee the quality of its service.
  • "Is this your place?" claims are only for the business owner or someone they've authorised.

The "Ask BesBes" assistant

  • The assistant gives general pet-care information. It is not a vet, doesn't diagnose or give medicine doses, and can be wrong. In an emergency, go to the nearest vet straight away.
  • Don't put personal details in your messages. We keep conversations for 30 days.
  • The assistant has a daily message limit and may refuse requests that break the law or harm animals.

Paid features and refunds

  • When available: listing boosts (Top for 3 days, Top for 7 days, Spotlight for 14 days and the "Urgent" badge), the "BesBes Pro" subscription for sellers and "Business Pro" for businesses. The current price is shown before you pay and includes taxes where they apply.
  • You pay on the website through Paymob, or on iPhone through Apple's in-app purchase.
  • If a boosted listing is rejected before it goes live, we refund the boost. Otherwise a digital service starts as soon as you buy it and isn't refundable, except where the law says otherwise.
  • Apple purchases follow Apple's refund policy. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel; cancelling takes effect at the end of the paid period.

Review, reports and suspensions

  • Listings are checked automatically (text and photos), and our team reviews anything the checks flag. We review reports within 24 hours, and a listing reported by 3 different people is hidden until it's reviewed. A listing that went live after the automatic checks can still be taken down if it breaks these terms.
  • We may remove content, limit features, or suspend or close an account when these terms or the law are broken. Minor issues get a warning first; scams, cruelty to animals, banned breeds and illegal trade close the account at once.
  • We'll tell you why. If you think we got it wrong, write to support@besbes.app within 30 days.
  • We respond to legal notices within 24 hours, keep moderation records for 2 years, and cooperate with the authorities as the law requires.

Your content and your licence to us

  • Your content (photos, videos and text) is yours. By posting it, you give BesBes a non-exclusive, free, worldwide licence to host, store, copy, resize and crop it, remove the background from pet photos, translate it, and show it in BesBes and in the share links, posters and cards made from it, for as long as it's on BesBes, plus backups and the records the law requires.
  • We may feature lost and found alerts and adoption listings on BesBes's social media accounts. We never post sale listings there.
  • You confirm you own the rights to what you post, and that anyone shown in your photos agreed to it.

Intellectual property

The BesBes name, logo, characters (Mishmish and Lulu), the app's design and the guides are ours. Map data comes from OpenStreetMap contributors under the ODbL licence, and the open-source software we use is under its own licences.

Safety tips for dealing with others

  • See the animal in person or on a video call before paying anything, and never pay a deposit to someone you don't know.
  • Ask for the vaccination card, the dog licence and any pedigree papers, and check they match the animal.
  • Meet in a public place or with someone you trust.
  • Report anything suspicious with the report button.

Disclaimers and limits of liability

  • We provide BesBes "as is". We don't guarantee that listings are accurate, the health, temperament, breed or papers of any animal, the identity of users beyond what a badge means, or that the service will run without interruption.
  • To the extent Egyptian law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses or for harm arising from deals or dealings between users, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
  • Nothing in these terms excludes liability that the law doesn't allow us to exclude, such as for fraud or gross error. [👤⚖️ for the lawyer to review]

Your responsibility to us

You are responsible for your content, your animals, your dealings and following the law. You will compensate BesBes for any claim, fine or harm that arises from your breaking these terms or the law, to the extent the law allows.

Ending your use

You can stop using BesBes and delete your account at any time in the app or at besbes.app/delete-account. We may suspend the service or any account under these terms. What happens to your data when you delete your account is explained in our privacy policy.

Changes

We may develop the service or change these terms. We'll tell you in the app at least seven days before a significant change, unless the law or safety requires it at once. Using BesBes after a change takes effect means you accept it; if you don't, you can delete your account.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt. We try to settle any disagreement amicably first, so write to us and give us 30 days to answer. If that fails, the courts of [👤⚖️ Cairo] have jurisdiction. These terms don't affect your rights under consumer protection law, including your right to complain to the Consumer Protection Agency. The terms are available in Arabic and English; if they differ, the Arabic text prevails.
