Data sources
The services directory starts from open map data. We clean it, merge duplicates and call places to check them. Once an owner claims their place, it shows what the owner told us.
The "Verified by BesBes" badge means we reached the place by phone. Places without it come from open data and may be out of date: tell us with "Report this place" on its page.
Overture Maps Foundation
Most places in the directory, such as vets, pet shops, groomers, boarding and shelters, come from Overture's open places data.
Places data from the Overture Maps Foundation (overturemaps.org), including data from Meta, Microsoft and other providers under the CDLA Permissive 2.0 licence (cdla.dev/permissive-2-0).Foursquare Open Source Places
Some of Overture's places come from Foursquare's open places data.
Contains data from Foursquare Open Source Places. Copyright 2024 Foursquare Labs, Inc. All rights reserved. Licensed under the Apache License, Version 2.0 (apache.org/licenses/LICENSE-2.0). BesBes has changed this data: names and phone numbers were cleaned, duplicates merged and listings checked by phone.OpenStreetMap
We use OpenStreetMap to double-check places and to find more to call. We don't copy its data into the directory.
